Global Survey on Outplacement Services within the Logistics and Supply Chain sector

How has the recession affected your business? Are you expecting staff reductions? Are the affected employees offer outplacement support? What outplacement benefits do you think matters the most to an affected employee?

Europhia Consulting has conducted a global survey on outplacement services to better understand how companies in the logistics and supply chain sector are managing the outplacement of employees and what type of support matters most to affected employees in the current economic situation.

Unemployment in the US has been driven up to 8.1 percent. In Europe, unemployment in Germany stands at 8.5 percent, and in Britain, it is 6.1 percent, the highest in ten years. In Asia, in China, the urban unemployment rate officially stands at 4.2 percent. However, the Chinese Academy of Social Scientists says it is closer to 9.4 percent. In Japan, unemployment hit 4.4 percent by the end of 2008, rising at its fastest rate in 42 years. In India, unemployment officially stands at 8.2 percent. However, that number is thought to largely reflect unemployment in the organized sector of the economy, which comprises just 10 percent of the country’s workforce.

As companies reduce staff levels to manage their cost levels, it is imperative that affected employees are well-supported in their transition out of the organisation. As Jack Welch rightly puts it in his recent article in Business Week, "When employees are let go, treat them with the respect they got at their hiring".
